Spring Summer 2002 was Watanabe’s first full menswear collection under the Comme des Garçons MAN label, and he used it to explore the emotional resonance of language. Rather than focusing solely on silhouette or construction, he invited his design team to contribute original poems — each piece became a canvas for personal expression. The result was a series of garments adorned with text ranging from romantic musings to existential reflections.
